Amy Wax is a provocateur, and someone who makes people think. I don't always agree with her methods, but I think censoring her does much more harm than letting her speak freely.
I agree. The broader issue here is not the words of one professor, but academic freedom in general. It sets a terrible precedent if a university can revoke tenure and fire a professor over ideas. Unfortunately, Princeton did the same over Joshua Katz.
It boggles the mind that one of the most basic tenets of education- critical thinking coupled with free speech- is being eliminated at all levels of education. Good for Amy Wax, a truly brilliant, objective, and courageous law professor. My husband and I both contributed to her Go Fund Me page, and I encourage others to do so, too. We must all fight this group think that is sweeping the country and distorting our educational institutions from coast to coast.
I took a look at the document about Amy Wax. If the quotes are true, she should be fired. The First Amendment protects us from government censorship and imprisonment. It does not mean that universities have to employ anyone. Telling students, or making statements in front of them, that state or imply that they are members of groups that are inferior, creates an atmosphere of intimidation. Furthermore, some of her statements have no basis in science. Most of them are just her personal opinions. They are not intellectual arguments. I'm shocked that you or anyone is supporting this person.
First, you need to see the quotes in context, not out of context. Second, this has nothing to do with the first amendment. It has to do with academic freedom. You are thoroughly entitled to your views. But your views are what we are fighting. Free speech, including in the classroom, must trump feelings. Otherwise, we lose Western Civilization.
I honestly don't think we will lose "Western Civilization" because an ornery professor who felt free to tell her students they belonged to inferior groups loses her job. To put this in MY context: I'm a licensed professional (mental health therapist). If I told any of my patients they belonged to a lesser group of people I would lose my license and career, not just a job. If Wax is a law professor she is also a licensed professional, I assume. In which case she is toying with losing her law license. My guess is she gave up the practice of law because she didn't want to be constrained by stuff like ethics. She wanted to be able to blab whatever she thought to young people over whom she had power. I find such people to be despicable.
Good complete deep dive into this subject. The Woke narratives are deeply imbedded in education. The fact is that “elite” predators like those in the World Economic Forum & Bilderberg (not to mention there puppets in government, corporations, other institutions) are very proud of being successful in infiltration of so many world wide, national, state and local enterprises - including and especially education.

Yes, agree! and he was treated very unfairly.
Yes, it seems our universities are heavily infiltrated by the international Corporatocracy.
Good point but it is dependent on Free Speech. We can be tolerant of differing opinions, voices. Our own freedom depends on this.
